i've heard many stories about that al gore did, steve wozzy did, diddy did it?, etc, and i have never known who really did invent the internets. any ideas?

Al gore didn't create the internet. He promoted it, but he didn't create it.
If I remember correctly, nobody specifically made the internet. As Trist said, it was more of a collaborative thing.
